Updated over 2 weeks ago

When installing a Nomad eSIM, you may encounter the error message, “This code is no longer valid.” This article outlines possible reasons, troubleshooting steps, and preventive measures to resolve the issue effectively.

Most issues related to "This code is no longer valid" can be resolved by checking for existing installations, refreshing device configurations, or carefully following manual setup instructions. Understanding the Error Message

The error "This code is no longer valid" typically indicates one of the following issues:

  • The eSIM code has already been installed on the device, and a re-scan or reinstallation is being attempted. Once an eSIM is installed, the code becomes inactive.

  • The eSIM installation code has expired or surpassed its validity period.

  • Previous eSIM profiles or incomplete installations on the device are interfering with new activation attempts.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

To address the issue, follow these steps:

1. Check If eSIM Is Already Installed

  • iOS Users: Navigate to Settings > Cellular/Mobile Data and look for a profile labeled "No number" or categorized as Secondary, Travel, or Business. Also, verify the ICCID (unique identifier for the eSIM) by visiting Settings > General > About. Match this number with the ICCID in your plan details.

  • Android Users: Navigate to Settings > SIM Manager or Network & Internet > Mobile Network and locate the eSIM information.

If the eSIM is present, enable it by turning on Data Roaming and setting it as the default for mobile data.

2. Restart the Device

Restarting your device refreshes the SIM manager configurations, clearing possible conflicts that may block installation. Once restarted, try scanning the QR code again .

3. Verify and Remove Previous eSIM Profiles

If you suspect old eSIM profiles are causing the conflict:

  1. Go to your device's eSIM settings and remove inactive or unused profiles.

  2. Restart the device and attempt the eSIM installation again using the provided QR code .

4. Install eSIM Manually (If QR Code Fails)

If scanning the QR code persists as an issue:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Cellular > Add Cellular Plan, then select "Enter Details Manually."

  2. Use the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code sent to your registered email. Leave the confirmation code field blank .

5. Contact Support or Request a New Installation Code

If none of the steps are successful, reach out to Nomad customer support to request a new eSIM installation code.
