Resolving Mistaken eSIM Purchases on Nomad
Mistakenly purchasing a new eSIM instead of an add-on plan on Nomad is a common issue. Below, you'll find detailed guidance on how to resolve this mistake, whether that involves using the new plan, troubleshooting installation issues, or understanding policies about conversions and cancellations.
Please note that the prices for add-ons and new eSIMs is similar in most cases.
Common Issues and Their Solutions
1. Installing the Newly Purchased eSIM
If you purchased a new eSIM by mistake, the simplest approach is to install and use the newly purchased plan:
Scan the QR code provided at purchase or in the confirmation email. Note: You’ll need a stable internet connection to complete the installation.
If the wrong plan is installed or you don’t see it on your device, delete the incorrect eSIM profile and reinstall the correct one using the QR code. After reinstallation, ensure the eSIM is enabled and check that the ICCID matches your plan.
Once installed, set the new eSIM as your mobile data line and toggle airplane mode off and on to refresh your connection.
2. Addressing Urgent Service Needs
If you’re in immediate need of service and accidentally bought a new eSIM:
Remove the old eSIM profile from your device.
Install and activate the new eSIM following the steps above.
After installation, toggle airplane mode to refresh the connection and ensure functionality.
3. Converting a New eSIM into an Add-On
It is important to note that new eSIM purchases cannot be converted into add-ons for an existing eSIM:
Add-ons can only be purchased directly through the Manage page for your current eSIM by selecting “Add more data.” This process automatically applies the data to your existing eSIM profile.
Cancelling Mistaken Purchases
If you mistakenly purchased an unused add-on instead of a new eSIM:
Open the Nomad app.
Navigate to Profile → Help Center → Other Issues → Cancel Order.
Select the mistaken add-on and follow the prompts to cancel and request a refund. This option is only available for unused add-ons.
Reach out to Nomad Support if above steps fail.
Key Policies and Limitations
Conversion Limitations: New eSIM purchases cannot be transformed into add-ons, and vice versa. Any mistakes must be resolved by either installing and using the purchased plan or canceling unused add-ons for a refund.
Refund Eligibility: Only unused eSIMs and add-ons are eligible for cancellation and refund. Installed or activated plans typically cannot be refunded.
By following these steps, you can resolve issues related to mistaken eSIM purchases and ensure seamless service on Nomad.
