How to install eSIM on an Oppo smartphone

As technology continues to advance, traditional physical SIM cards are making way for a more versatile and convenient alternative - the eSIM (embedded SIM). Following our previous blogs on how to install the eSIM on the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy phones, Xiaomi, and Google Pixel, let's now take a look at how to install the eSIM on an Oppo smartphone.

Oppo devices that are eSIM compatible

If you want to install an eSIM on your Oppo device, the first thing you would need to confirm is that your device is eSIM-compatible.

Below is a list of Oppo devices that are known to be eSIM-compatible:

  • Find X3 Pro
  • Reno 5 A
  • Find X5
  • Find X5 Pro
  • Reno6 Pro 5G
  • A55s 5G

Check that your operator has eSIM support for your device

Although you might have a device that is eSIM-compatible, it is also important to take note that for you to be able to use an eSIM on your device, your operator would also need to have eSIM support for your specific device.

With the increasing popularity of eSIMs, many operators have also started to expand the list of devices that they provide eSIM support for. However, as device support varies from operator to operator, it is important that you first check that your operator provides eSIM support for your device model before you purchase an eSIM.

Install an eSIM on your Oppo device

Now that you have verified that your device is eSIM compatible, and that your operator has support for your device model, we can now look at how to install an eSIM on your Oppo device.

Note that to install an eSIM on your device, you will first need to be connected to the Internet. You should also have obtained a QR code or installation details from your operator — you will need this QR code for the eSIM installation.

Follow these steps to complete the eSIM installation:

  1. Go to Settings > SIM card and Mobile/Cellular Data
  2. Select eSIM
  3. Accept the terms and continue
  4. Select Add eSIM
  5. Follow the instructions on screen until you get the option to scan QR code
  6. Scan the QR code that your operator gave you
  7. Wait for the installation to be completed
